Im Sharon and first fell in love with ceramics at school and after a long career in nursing & nurse management went back to clay!
Sculpting comes naturally to me and I have developed my skills & techniques over the last few years. I am forever learning new skills on this amazing clay journey, and have a genuine passion for sharing this knowledge with others, along with all the tips and tricks I've learned along the way.
I have lots of teaching experience and I love that I have now brought this into the wonderful world of clay. Along with my own tutorials and classes, I'm also a Guest instuctor for clayshare.com
My work...
Is whatever takes my fancy, with so many areas in clay, I could never stick to just one type or area, I love exploring & dabbling and seeing where the clay takes me.
Sometimes I make small Functional Pieces of pottery such as cups, lidded pots, fruit strainers and platters, made either on the wheel or by hand.
Recently I dabbled into making Flowers, and have fallen in love with the large Dahlias & Hydranga's.
My Huge Passion and what I spend alot time doing, is Sculpting. Usually Inspired by animals, my sculptures are either fun & Chunky, with an aim to represent their quirky & characterful natures or they have a more natural feel to them.
No matter what it is, each piece is lovingly designed & individually handmade from chunks of either stoneware or paperclay.
Although I make many, especially workshop pieces, no two creations are ever the same. All my work is glazed & fired either in The Crafty Potter Studio, or from my Home Studio.
